The first listener survey in Gippsland since 2016 was released this week, showing the ACE Network combo of TRFM and Gippsland's Gold to have markedly improved their position.

Gippslanders will be able to see home-grown talent MATTHEW BENTLEY perform, when he stops in the region during his three-month, five-state tour that begins in Western Australia on October 4.

The 20 year old singer-songwriter from Raymond Island has been busy writing new songs this year to take to the recording studio, then on the road to live audiences in 35 towns.  Matthew is keen to point his touring van westward and take has talent and infectious love of life to his quickly expanding national fan base.

Large climate walk planned for Bairnsdale

Among the thousands of Australian school students preparing to walk out of classrooms this Friday to demand climate action will be a large group in Bairnsdale.

One of the organisers, Nagle College Year 12 student Arête Green-Crook, said they'll begin at his school and end up at the town's Rotunda, via the secondary college.

Even while finishing Year 12 in 2017, Matthew was writing songs, honing his guitar and vocal abilities, and attracting fans.  Two years later he is finishing the year in a big way with two new song releases and a three-month tour.

How Today's Sydney-based producers make Melbourne look gloomy

It's true that Melbourne can be cloudy at times and in the early hours, when Nine's Today Show goes to air, the sun doesn't always shine.  But Melbourne is certainly not as gloomy as the Today producers make it out to be.

It's all about camera angles.  For some reason, the Sydney-based producers think it's OK to show the shaded side of buildings when they have a Melbourne guest. Even on the sunniest of mornings, they manage to make Melbourne look dark and unattractive.

Here's an example from this morning, which was actually gloriously sunny. You wouldn't think so by watching Today.

Major solar farm in Wellington Shire a largely locally driven project

A major solar farm project being developed in the Wellington Shire is getting national attention and strong government support.

Construction of the first of three farms will commence early next year, with a workforce of at least 1200 people needed across the three stages.

When completed it will generate enough power for around 130,000 homes.

My interview with Brett Singh below will provide more details about the project.

Oneness of heart and spirit in M'Girl song



Eyes Wide Open is a song of unity, guidance and blessing by Canada's M'Girl.

It was recorded by the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN) in 2008 as part of its First Tracks project.  The song came to prominence when featured in Heartland, a Canadian television series first seen in Australia on ABC Me and now on Netflix.
